Project Point, a youth-led organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and disaster resilience among youth communities, organized a Youth Sensitization Programme on Post Disaster Management at Abhyudaya, Haldia. The program aimed to build awareness, preparedness, and active youth participation in the domain of disaster response and recovery, particularly in cyclone and flood-prone coastal regions.
Objective:
To sensitize youth on the importance of disaster risk reduction and preparedness.
To equip young leaders with basic knowledge and skills on post-disaster response and rehabilitation.
To encourage youth-led community initiatives for resilience building.
Participants:
The programme witnessed the active participation of 60+ youth volunteers from Haldia and nearby districts, including college students, NCC/NSS members, local youth clubs, and community leaders.

Inaugural Session: The event was inaugurated by local dignitaries and disaster response experts who emphasized the role of youth in creating disaster-resilient communities.
Technical Sessions: Experts from the fields of disaster management, coastal resilience, and climate adaptation conducted interactive sessions on:
Types and phases of disasters
Post-disaster needs assessment
Emergency response and first aid
Community mobilization during disasters
Simulation Exercises: Hands-on mock drills were conducted on emergency evacuation, first responder techniques, and resource mapping.
Youth Action Plan Development: Participants were divided into teams to prepare community-level post-disaster action plans for their respective areas.
Cultural Integration: Local youth presented street plays and posters on disaster awareness and climate resilience to creatively engage the community.
