To mark World No Tobacco Day, Project Point Odisha, in association with Salaam Jeevan, organized an awareness program at Kamala Nehru Women’s College, Bhubaneswar on 31st May. The event aimed to educate and inspire youth, especially young women, to lead a tobacco-free life and become ambassadors for healthy living in their communities.
Awareness Rally: The program began with a campus rally by students and NSS volunteers holding placards and chanting slogans on the harmful effects of tobacco.
Interactive Session: Experts from Salaam Jeevan and health professionals addressed the gathering on the physical, mental, social, and economic impacts of tobacco use. Real-life stories were shared to inspire behavior change.
Poster & Slogan Competition: A creative competition was organized among students to depict the theme “Protecting Youth from Industry Manipulation and Preventing Them from Tobacco and Nicotine Use.”
Pledge Ceremony: Students and faculty took a pledge to stay away from tobacco and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Distribution of IEC Materials: Informative leaflets and posters were distributed among the participants for wider outreach.
